Here are the first two peg dolls in my new Bible Heroes Series. Meet Adam and Eve!

When I come up with ideas for peg dolls, I put them into two separate categories mentally: things I should paint and things I must paint. This Mariner peg doll set (with a sea captain, sailor, deep water mermaid, and sea monster) was something I just had to paint. I saw it in my head in all its moody blue glory and knew it needed to exist, even if only to sit in my windowsill and make me happy. Seriously. Have you ever seen a cuter sea monster?

"Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers, and me."
The Muppets Peg Doll set was a gift for another awesome 4 year old. They were extremely fun to paint.

A recent round-up of custom peg dolls: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Gandalf the Grey, Hello Kitty, Batman, Robin and the Joker, and Doc McStuffins.

Here are the Wizard of Oz characters painted in peg doll form, with two variations. First is the style I created for etsy and for craft shows, mostly based on the classic movie, with a little artistic liscense. The second set was painted for the coolest 4 year old ever, a little girl in love with the classic books. We made two small changes to acknowledge the film - ruby slippers instead of silver, and a green face on the Wicked Witch.

I've always been fascinated by the way we envision the future - especially what we thought the future might look like back in the 40's and 50's. The Space Collection peg doll set includes an astronaut, robot and space creature. They are retro futuristic, looking like something that came straight out of a 1950's drive-in movie. The last picture shows an expanded set with a few variations.

Things are shifting here at Pegged By Grace. When I began painting peg dolls, I was honing my rusty painting skills, and my first peg dolls were often recreations of well known characters. Now however, I am less interested in following other people's footsteps. What excites me is creating peg doll sets that ignite children's imagination, and that spark joy in adults.

This is the Western Collection: a set of cowboy and indian peg dolls. They are ready for wild west adventures. The set for sale in my etsy shop includes a masked robber, a cowboy, a cowgirl, and an Indian. The extended set in the bottom picture has two indians, and instead of a bank robber it includes a "white hat" character - a hero in disguise.

My son has not entered the world of organized sports yet. I have great respect for all the moms and dads who spend their weekends sitting in bleachers, coaching their children, and cheering from the sidelines. This sweet baseball peg doll was commissioned to celebrate a middle schooler's winning season. I'd love to create one for your special sports hero!

It was a fun and successful wedding season! Here are a few of the wedding cake topper peg dolls I was honored to paint this summer. Thank you, happy couples, for including me in your special day.

One of the most pivotal moments in all of human history is the moment God sent His Son to earth to live among us and die for our sins. How could I take such a holy, life-changing event and capture it in peg dolls? It sounds ludicrous to even attempt it.

Yet I wanted to try. I wanted to create a Nativity set that would honor the gift God gave us, and also be durable enough for the whole family to interact with year after year. I hope I've succeeded.

These two cuties may not be familiar to those of us who live in the United States, but they are extremely popular comic book/movie characters in parts of Europe! They are Asterix and Obelix (Asterix is on the right), Gauls who fight off the Romans in long ago France. They are so famous in France that they have there own amusement park! I got the chance to paint them for a wedding in Spain, and I'm glad I did, because they were a lot of fun.

jHere are a few new items I've been painting. Sorry for the long absence!

I've been busy preparing for a couple of spring craft shows (see sidebar) and have created some new character sets. Here is a sampling of what I've been up too!

One of the greatest things about the church I attend is that it is known as a "serving" church. I've never met so many people with completely open and willing hearts to serve God. The first people you meet when you get to church are the parking team. With goofy hats, huge smiles, and great attitudes, they help start your Sunday off right!

I was commissioned to create these pegs, in honor of two of the parking team members who are getting married. They will be part of an engagement cake - I can't wait to see how it turns out!

For anyone wondering what I've been up to lately, this pic may give you a clue! I've got two shows coming up this month, and I've been busy painting my more popular peg doll sets, and dreaming up some new creations! You can find me here:

I hope to see you at one of these great shows! I'm excited to buy from the other great vendors that will be attending. There's going to be some great stuff!

I had the honor, recently, of painting two sweet Rapunzel dolls for a pair of sisters whose birthdays are just days apart. I think their mom did a great job of creating the cakes and setting the table, don't you? I'm thrilled she sent me pictures of the peg dolls in action! Thanks, Ariana, and great job!
